In addition to the design of the Insight home page and individual dashboards, Insight has a number of administrative options which allow you to configure logon options, appearance options, and the text of system messages. The administrative options are covered in the detail in the following sections. To access the administration pages logon to Insight as a member of the IssueNet Administrators group and click the
Administration link on the menu in the top right of the Insight home page.
Edit1 Security
The options in the Security tab determine how users are logged on to Insight and the contact information they are required to supply. Users are required to either have contact information associated with their user account or supply it on logon because some of the queries used to populate Insight with data may be based on the user’s current contact information.
Require Individual User Account- Each Insight user will logon with an individual user account. When a users load Insight they will be prompted to supply a user ID and password. The users’ contact information will be based on the contact information associated with the user ID.
- Bind Contact on Log In- With this option selected Insight will link any contact information the user enters with their user account when a user logs in.
- Allow Auto Log In- With this option selected, users will be allowed to automatically log onto the relay site by selecting the Auto Login Next Time checkbox on the login page.
Use Shared User Account- When the Use Shared User Account option is selected, all users who hit the site are logged on under the same user name, and their contact information is saved to a cookie. The shared user account option is useful when you want to publish a dashboard which allows users to browse without the need to an individual user account.
The shared mode requires that the User Name does not have a contact associated with it. The option to Validate the shared user ID checks to verify that the selected user ID has no contact information associated with it.
- Contact Primary Identifier- This field selected in this box will be used to search for a user’s contact information when they first load Insight. When a user first uses Insight their contact information may already exist in the database. The user will be prompted to enter this information and it will be used to determine if the contact information already exists. Therefore, it is best to choose an item of contact information such as an e-mail address which should be unique within the database as the primary identifier.
- Contact Prompt Properties- When it is determined that the Contact does not exist Users will be required to provide contact information. Administrators can select what optional Contact information will be collected. Available fields are displayed in the left hand pane, and can be moved to the right hand pane by selecting the field and clicking the right arrow.
Edit2 Appearance
The Appearance tab allows you to modify some of Relay’s elements. Using the browse button you can browse to and then upload an image which will replace the Elsinore logon on the top left hand corner of the Insight banner.
You can also edit the Insight style sheet in the Style Sheet box. You can edit existing styles to change Insight’s out of the box appearance. However, the most important function of the style sheet editor is to allow you to add your own styles which can be used in conjunction with conditional styles and the Dashboard message part.
Edit3 Messages
The Messages tab allows you edit the text of common system message produced by Insight. If there is a message you would like to change, simply edit the text in the appropriate box and click the
Update button.
