3.3 System Options

The settings on this panel are related to Windows authentication of IssueNet users and associated user information in Directory Services. Using LDAP options allows the IssueNet Administrator to maintain all relevant user information from Windows Active Directory. This includes automatic creation of users and synchronizing user’s contact information and group memberships based on Directory Services settings.

LDAP Options

  • Query: This field defines the LDAP query path which determines the location in Active Directory from which to retrieve user information. To verify the validity of the query click the Test button and enter a domain UserID.
  • Search the entire subtree: This should normally remain checked for the default case. If a custom LDAP path is required for your Active Directory implementation, you might wish to limit LDAP queries to the specific node you specified by un-checking this box.
  • Allow Windows authentication for user logon: When selected, users are logged on to IssueNet with their domain UserID.
  • Create new user if user does not exist: When this option is selected, IssueNet will create a new user automatically when logging on to IssueNet Client. The IssueNet user name will match the Windows domain user name.
  • Update user’s contact information from Directory Services: This option is utilized whenever a new IssueNet user is created automatically or when an existing user logs on. For new users, the contact information from Active Directory is copied into a new contact item. For existing users, the contact information from Active Directory is compared to the current contact information and updated as needed.
  • Update user’s group membership from Directory Services:This option is utilized whenever a new IssueNet user is created automatically, or whenever an existing user logs on. For new users, the group memberships from Active Directory are established for the user in IssueNet as well. For existing users, the group memberships from Active Directory are compared to those of the IssueNet user. Note: Use of this option requires that the IssueNet Administrator first create group names in IssueNet to match those group names being used in Active Directory.
  • Property Mapping:In most cases the defaults specified here will match the attributes from Active Directory. However, if you have made customizations to your Active Directory attributes, or you wish to map different Active Directory attributes to IssueNet properties, you may do so with this list.

    • User Name- If required the UserID entered here will be one which has rights to send messages to the SMTP Server.
    • Password-If required the Password here will be the Password of the UserID.
  • IIS Pickup Directory- With this option selected if the IIS SMTP Virtual server is installed on the machine it will drop a mail file in the installed directory and IIS will subsequently deliver the message.
